The Challenge

Managing student behavior on school buses is a critical yet often overlooked aspect of student transportation.

School bus drivers are responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of dozens of children while also managing behavioural challenges that arise in a confined space. Unfortunately, effective training programs for bus drivers are limited, leaving many ill-equipped to handle disruptive situations.

This training gap leads to high driver turnover, frustration, and operational challenges for school districts and transportation companies. When drivers quit due to stress, school transportation departments and bus contractors face scheduling complications, increased hiring and training costs, and disruption to student transportation.

Nexus Psychology identified this problem while working with the Elk Island Public School District. Their in-person behaviour management training program received overwhelmingly positive feedback, confirming the need for a structured, accessible solution for school bus drivers across Canada. However, delivering this training in person to multiple districts was unsustainable.

To scale their impact and ensure long-term success, Nexus sought to develop a digital learning platform that would provide on-demand, self-paced training for school bus drivers.

This initiative required more than just an educational platform—it needed a strong, recognizable brand that would differentiate it from traditional post-secondary training programs and reinforce its credibility as a trusted resource for school bus driver education.

The Solution

Nexus Psychology partnered with Urban Jungle to bring this vision to life.

Our task was to build a compelling brand and digital presence that would position their offering as the go-to resource for behaviour management training in the school transportation industry.

To achieve this, we developed a comprehensive brand strategy, including:

  • Brand Naming & Identity: We created the name Drivafy to encapsulate the essence of skill-building and empowerment for school bus drivers. The brand identity, including the logo, typography, and colour palette, was designed to be professional yet approachable, reinforcing trust and reliability.
  • Brand Positioning & Messaging: Drivafy needed to stand out from traditional training providers while remaining credible and authoritative. We crafted clear, compelling messaging that positioned Drivafy as an accessible, easy-to-use, and essential training tool for school transportation professionals.
  • Website & Learning Management System (LMS): A seamless online learning experience was crucial for Drivafy’s success. We researched, selected, and implemented a user-friendly LMS through the Teachable platform, ensuring that training modules were intuitive, engaging, and effective. The website was designed with simple navigation, high-impact visuals, and clear calls to action to encourage enrollment and course completion.
  • Marketing & Sales Enablement: To support Drivafy’s launch, we created branded materials, including pull-up banners and a sales presentation targeted at school districts and bus service contractors.

The Outcome

Drivafy successfully launched as Canada’s premier behavior management training program for school bus drivers.

The new brand and digital platform positioned Drivafy as an industry leader, enabling school districts and transportation companies to provide high-quality training at scale.

Key outcomes of the project include:

  • Scalability & Accessibility: By transitioning to an online model, Drivafy made essential training available to school bus drivers across Canada, ensuring they could learn at their own pace, anytime, anywhere.
  • Improved Driver Retention: Equipping drivers with behavior management skills reduces frustration and stress, leading to better job satisfaction and lower turnover rates.
  • Operational Efficiency: School transportation departments and bus service contractors can now easily allocate and monitor training, improving compliance and reducing the administrative burden.

Drivafy now plays a critical role in enhancing the school transportation experience, ensuring safer and more positive rides for both students and drivers.
